Parks & Recreation Commission
The Parks & Recreation Commission consists of six members appointed by the Board of Selectman for four-year terms. The Commission meets at 7:00pm on the second Monday of each month at the Senior Center, where the Parks & Recreation office is located. The Commission is responsible for providing guidance, direction, and support to the Parks & Rec Director, and sets policies for the use of the parks and recreational facilities and programs. The Commission, along with the Director, develops the Town Budget each year, and oversees the care and maintenance of Blish Park and the other Town-owned recreation and athletic facilities and fields. A full list of all the town’s facilities is on the Parks & Recreation website.
The Parks & Recreation Commission is responsible for producing a number of activities in town including the coordination of the annual Town-Wide Tag Sale on the first Saturday of October to raise funds for the ongoing maintenance of the Blish Park Playscape. The Summer Concert Series at Blish Park brings families to the park for outdoor music and picnicking, and each December, the Parks & Recreation Commission collaborates with the Marlborough Fire Department to coordinate the Gathering on the Green festival activities. Parks and Recreation Commission partners with the Connecticut River Valley Chamber of Commerce of Marlborough Day each August for a day filled with fun family activities, and we organize countless other exciting events and activities throughout the year to engage Marlborough’s residents and children.
